Blue Seal Letter
(Redirected from Blue Seal Letters)
A Blue Seal Letter is issued by the Secretary of the University to enable faculty to receive appropriate courtesies for observation and study while traveling. Blue Seal Letters are addressed to officials in charge of archives, government agencies, institutes of health, institutions of learning, libraries and museums.
MA students can get them from the dean of GSAS in order to do dissertation research.
The term 'Blue Seal Letter' is a Columbia-specific term for these academic letters of introduction.
