Linguistics Society
(Redirected from Columbia Linguistics Society)
The Columbia Linguistics Society (CLS) is a special-interest group for students interested in linguistics. The group was formerly known as the Columbia Linguistics Alliance but changed its name in 2008 when it became recognized by the Activities Board at Columbia. The group had existed for several years before being recognized, and has been active ever since.
CLS hosts several guest lectures throughout the academic year on various linguistic topics, and also offers social outings; perhaps the most famous of which are its monthly dinners at Columbia Cottage, which are sometimes attended by linguistics professors as well.
