Graduate Assistant
(Redirected from GA)
A Graduate Assistant or GA is a graduate student hired by the Office of Residential Programs to live in undergraduate residence halls. They get a free room, and a $4200 stipend. Their purpose is mainly to sign CAVAed freshmen out of St. Luke's Hospital , but according to the website, "through professional experiences, the graduate assistants support the mission and needs of our office and gain transferable skills." (That's administration-speak at it's best!)
Candidates for the GA position should be enrolled in a Columbia University graduate school. First year law, dental, medical, business, and social work students are ineligible due to the fact that "the academic requirements and job responsibilities are too great."
