The Lion was the brainchild of [[Stephen Snowder]], former [[Spectrum]] editor, and [[Jake Davidson]], former Online Editor of the ''[[Columbia Daily Spectator]]''. Davidson told ''[[The Blue and White]]'', "[I]t became clear that Spec was too serious.
