The '''Annual Reports of the President to the Trustees''' were started by President [[Frederick A. P. Barnard]] as a public platform for proclaiming his vision for Columbia College, much to the consternation of the [[Trustees]]. The tradition of published reports continued with his [[President of Columbia University|successors]], and they leave a neat and tidy history.
