The '''Dean of Student Affairs''' is the head of the [[Division of Student Affairs]], which encompasses many departments, including Advising, Financial Aid, Admissions, Student Development and Activities, and Residential Programs.  The current Dean of Student Affairs is [[Kevin Shollenberger]], who took over in 2007 when [[Chris Colombo]] resigned to move to [[MIT]].

== History ==
Initially, both [[Columbia College]] and [[SEAS]] had their own internal [[dean]] responsible for student affairs.  This meant that advising, residential life, admissions, and student activities were overseen by each college separately.  In 1998, the [[Division of Student Affairs]] was formed by [[George Rupp|President Rupp]] to create a more cohesive undergraduate experience between CC and SEAS.  Both schools disbanded their Dean of Students position and combined student affairs offices under Chris Colombo.
