'''Louis Simpson''' [[GS]] '[[1948|48]] [[MA]] '[[1950|50]] [[PhD]] '[[1959|59]] was a Jamaican poet who won the [[Pulitzer Prize]] in [[1964]]. He came to the US specifically to attend Columbia, studying under [[Mark Van Doren]], but his studies were cut short by [[World War II]]. He eventually returned to the university to complete his degree and continue on as a graduate student.
