'''Syreeta McFadden''' [[Columbia College|CC]] '[[1997|97]] was president of [[CCSC]], secretary of the [[Black Students Organization]] and co-editor-in-chief of ''Roots in Culture'', a magazine chronicling the African diaspora. McFadden planned to go to law school to pursue civil rights work. Instead, she got an [[MFA]] in creative writing from [[Sarah Lawrence]]. She is currently working for the NYC Housing Department and is active in freelance writing and photography from her home in Brooklyn.
