Ted Gold was a Columbia College student who was intimately involved with the SDS during the late 1960s, playing a major role in 1967 anti-Vietnam War demonstrations and the 1968 protests. Along with Mark Rudd, Gold was one of the "IDA Six" placed on probation prior to the protests in April 1968, and was suspended after the subsequent student strike and occupations. He wound up joining the Weathermen and dying in the March 6, 1970 explosion of the townhouse hideout of the organization.
