James Mirollo is Parr Professor Emeritus of English and Comparative Literature and Executive Director of the Society of Senior Scholars. He is a founder and teacher of the Alumni Colloquia, which began in 1987 at the Heyman Center for the Humanities and which includes colloquia for the Friends of the Heyman Center and the John Jay Associates. He is currently the overall director of these colloquia and the administrative coordinator for the interdisciplinary East-West workshops and the related undergraduate advanced seminars, such as Nobility and Civility, held at the Center. He was Associate Director of the Heyman Center from 1987 to 2004.
Mirollo is also an old school Core Curriculum teacher whose Lit Hum classes are legendary. He is the recipient of a Great Teacher Award, a Mark Van Doren Award, and an -Award for Distinguished Service to the Core Curriculum.
