Course registration is the process of signing up for courses to take the following semester. Students can do this on SSOL or by phone using a pin code found on SSOL. If either option is impossible, you must deal with the fire-breathing Registrar.
In selecting your courses, three websites are particularly useful:
- Your school's bulletin, to get course descriptions.
- The Directory of Classes, to get all the details for the courses you found in the bulletin. This includes time, place, professor, seats available, any cap on seats, etc. (The information in the bulletin usually lags a few days.)
- CULPA, for professor reviews.
- If you're looking for a random elective, check out CULPA's Gold Nugget reviews, or perhaps check the ranks of faculty awards winners, including the Mark Van Doren Award, the Lionel Trilling Book Award, and of course the Great Teacher Award.
