The Middle East Institute is a center for interdisciplinary scholarship on, you guessed it, the Middle East. It's vaguely affiliated with SIPA. Founded in 1954, its main function seems to be organizing bag lunches. It does manage the SIPA regional concentration in the Middle East and a certificate program for any advanced degree candidate in the university.

Rashid Khalidi serves as director.
