Mike Gravel GS '56 is a former US Senator from Alaska, credited with having helped end the draft during the Vietnam War and with publishing the Pentagon Papers. He is currently a Democratic candidate for the 2008 presidential elections.
While at Columbia, Gravel was an Econ major. He moved to Alaska after graduation with the specific goal of running for Senate.
