Sandy Koufax was a left-handed pitcher for the Brookyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1955 to 1966. Generally considered one of the greatest Jewish athletes of his time, he notably refused to start Game 1 of the 1965 World Series because it fell on Yom Kippur.
