Ellen Victoria Futter BC '1971, Law '74 was president of Barnard College from 1981 to 1993. She negotiated the agreement that allowed Columbia College to admit women, while preserving Barnard's independence. In addition, she commissioned the construction of Sulzberger Tower.[1]
