The Hungarian Pastry Shop is a legendary cafe on Amsterdam Ave. across from St. John the Divine.
Full of graduate students who hang out for hours on end, huddled over their laptops and books. This might be because all refills on coffee are free.
The bathroom is noteworthy for being filled with political graffiti of predictable character, although it has been more frequently painted over in recent times.
For some reason, the waitstaff at the Hungarian is mostly of Ethiopian extraction.
