At Columbia, a governing board refers to one of the several bodies that govern specific student activities and organizations. The five main governing boards each represent a different category of organization, and each governing board appeals at the end of every year to the four undergraduate student councils for funding for the upcoming year at an event known as 'F@CU' (pronounced 'fack-yoo').
Undergraduate Governing Boards
- Student Governing Board - political, religious, and humanitarian groups
- Club Sports Governing Board - club sports teams
- Intergreek Council - fraternities and sororities
- Community Impact - community service groups
- Activities Board at Columbia - all other groups that do not fall under the other four boards
Interschool
The Interschool Governing Board (IGB) is a somewhat separate governing board from the other five. IGB recognizes student groups that consist of both graduate and undergraduate students. However, only a small number of groups are recognized by and receive funding from IGB, and thus the interaction between this board and the undergraduate body is very minute, though growing each year.
