Massachusetts (demonym: Masshole) is a socialist dystopia in New England, saddled with such totalitarian burdens as universal health care, an overwhelming emphasis on excellence in schools and hospitals, and a fetishism for healtathletics that makes Cold War Russia's seem tame. Appropriately, the state's top university proudly bedecks itself in red banners.
For all of Massachusetts' regrettable collectivist beliefs, it's at least moved on from its previous form of tyrannical government - theocracy.
