The physical education requirement is basically two phys ed classes. It is administered by the Physical Education Department aka Columbia Athletics.
Athletes are exempt, as they get one credit for being in a varsity sport every semester.
Options
Yoga is the most popular option, followed by skiing and hiking. Judo, squash, and sailing are solid choices, as well as self-paced running, which is as rigorous as one would imagine.
Some dance classes at Barnard count for P.E. credit.
