While many other schools host similar events for prospective students, surprisingly, the unimaginative term for the event is used only by Columbia University, a Google search did not yield any other universities.

Activities

Days on Campus organizes residence hall tours, overviews of the neighborhood (Morningside Heights), class sit-ins, academic panels, student group performances, a nighttime bus tour of NYC, an activities fair, and free food. You learn the school fight song "Roar, Lion, Roar," but soon forget it.

Columbia offers students the option of staying the weekend in one of the residence halls with a current undergraduate, usually a member of the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee. This is a good opportunity to meet future friends and get a glimpse of Columbia student life from the inside.

As a first exposure into the "nothing make any damn sense here at Columbia in regards to dealing with administration" you are given the option to sign up for an additional event called Perspectives on Diversity. Depending on the date of your Days on Campus, this immediately follows Days on Campus or precedes it. Days on Campus is divided into Columbia College Days on Campus and Engineering Days on Campus. Perspectives on Diversity will be in between these events, so you can meet people from both colleges. It is the best part of the entire stay with an utterly amazing culture show at the end.
