Alina Ying SEAS '19 is from San Jose, California and is a Computer Science major.
Student Council
Alina was elected to the Engineering Student Council as a first year in class council as Vice President. In her junior year, she ran with the Executive Board party SEAS the Change Δ and was elected as the SEAS Student Body President for 2019-2020.
During Alina's term, there was undergraduate involvement in recognizing Indigenous People's Day, the University's Second Sustainability Plan, and expanded access for the Mudd engineering building.
She also pursued and took part in the following:
Completed Projects/Duties
- F@CU allocations to the six governing boards: ABC, SGB, IGC, CSGB, CI, GBB
- Bacchanal Funding
- For institutional memory: redesigned the internal organization of the ESC Drive (backed-up)
- Advocated undergraduate SEAS academic concerns in the Engineering Committee on Instruction
- Established pipelines between ESC and Undergraduate Student Life with Dean Cristen Kromm
- Established pipelines between ESC and Center for Career Education with Dean Kavita Sharma
- Biweekly meetings with VP Scott Wright; invited to ESC general body
- Biweekly meetings with Vice Deans Soulaymane Kachani and/or Barclay Morrison
- Monthly meetings on the Housing Advisory Board (HAB)
- Judged for Basketball Mania
- Biweekly newsletters to the engineering mailing list (undergrad SEAS students, Deans)
