Carne was an American Nouveau steak house on Broadway at 105th St. In early January 2008, Carne's existence came to an end when it reopened as the new location of Toast.
Most students thought Carne was relatively expensive. Burgers started at $10, and most main courses ranged from $15 to $25. It was one of the better restaurants around Morningside Heights - a good place to go with one's parents - but the quality of the food and service became inconsistent.
In its most recent known inspection, the restaurant achieved 15 violation points.
