The Columbia Field Hockey Venue is located at Baker Field. The field, which debuted in the fall of 2006, was dedicated in the fall of 2007.[1][2][3]
Formerly the site of the football practice field, the new field hockey pitch was built when the installation of FieldTurf in Wien Stadium in 2005 rendered the field unsuitable for field hockey.[4] The team spent a season in exile playing at RiverBank State Park and other venues while the new facility was under construction (field hockey homecoming in 2005 was held at Hofstra University in Long Island).
The field features a state of the art synthetic polypropylene surface. Columbia is now the only school in the nation to have a polypropylene surface solely intended for field hockey.
