Public folders are not really public, but they are folders. They are email boxes viewed through CubMail or Pine that are accessible to multiple individuals. They are generally associated with an email alias @columbia.edu, and they allow several people to browse the same messages sent to that address simultaneously. Access is currently controlled through the use of CUNIX groups, though this may change in the future.

More information about public folders is available from CUIT.
