Janaki Bakhle PhD '02 is a professor of Indian history. A former graduate student at Columbia working under, among others, Edward Said, Partha Chatterjee, and Ayesha Jalal, she now teaches the popular course Gandhi's India. She is also director of the Southern Asian Institute.
She is married to professor/administrator Nick Dirks.
