The Ombuds Office is a conflict-resolution department within the university that operates independently of any office or organization. The office was created in 1991 on the recommendation of the President's Committee for the Promotion of Mutual Understanding and Civility to provide a resource for all those who felt they had been treated disrespectfully.
Members of the Ombuds Office (known as ombudsmen/women) work with their clients in a confidential and impartial way to resolve conflicts and provide advice into decisions.
The purpose of the office is to provide a place where students, faculty, and staff alike can come to hear their complaints and concerns heard in a fair and unbaised way. The office also exists to help its clients navigate the bureaucracy of the university.
The office is located in 660 Schermerhorn Extension.
