John Berryman CC '36 was a Pulitzer Prize winning poet. In his freshman year at Columbia, he lived in John Jay Hall, and was injured by a bottle that came flying through his window. Berryman later became a member of Philo, won the 1935 Van Rensselaer Poetry Prize, and was a recipient of the Kellett Fellowship.
