A transfer student is someone who thought Columbia would be better than his or her first-choice college. He or she then endured an even steeper admissions battle than four-year students. Naïve at first, but respectable. In Columbia College, transfer students have to do the entire Core Curriculum in 2-3 years, depending on when they transferred, and have to forge social lives without the starting point of a first-year hall culture.
