Kathleen R. KcKeown is the Henry and Gertrude Rothschild Professor of Computer Science. She was the first woman to be granted tenure at SEAS, and was also the first female department chair when she led CS from 1998 to 2003. She is a winner of the Great Teacher Award, in addition to many professional awards and achievements.

In 2012, she was appointed the inaugural director of the Institute for Data Sciences and Engineering, after her considerable work crafting the proposal for its creation.
