The Friends of the Spartacus Youth Club is a left-wing student club. Its name is "Friends of..." rather than simply "Spartacus Youth Club" because the actual Spartacus Youth are too unpalatable for recognition. Either way, these Spartans are a real-life Marxist-Leninist-Trotskyist organization. Their only two members at Columbia are known for:
- accusing the International Socialist Organization of being right wing extremists
- advocating the freeing of Mumia
- verbally assaulting passers by
- not wearing deodorant
They are perhaps most famous for their rallying cry of "Defend the deformed workers state of North Korea from imperialist, capitalist America!"
