Twitter was a social network that's inherently superior to Facebook because:

1. Your entire family wasn't on it and are therefore not inviting you to play Farmville or assaulting you with baby photos.
2. It didn't ever come into conflict with any superior Columbia-originated social networks which it unfairly eclipsed.
3. You could concoct a completely anonymous persona with which to troll your enemies.
4. You were limited to 140 characters, and brevity is the soul of wit.

It was to be used liberally, but not so liberally that you awakened the fail whale.

Unfortunately it was purchased by Elon Musk, who renamed it X and ruined it. Still a vital source for news and sometimes wit, but ugh.
