Ira Katznelson CC '66 is the Ruggles Professor of Political Science and History, officially affiliated with the Political Science Department.
After graduating from Columbia, he was a Kellett Fellow at the University of Cambridge, where he completed his PhD. He then immediately returned to Columbia to teach, from 1969 to 1974, departed for the University of Chicago and the New School, where he was dean, and returned to Columbia in 1994, where he has been ever since.
In addition to other honors, Katznelson has also been a Guggenheim Fellow.
