"Top Girls" was a play performed in November 2013 by the Barnard theater department. It became controversial when lead actress Fiona Brunner (BC ’14), who is Caucasian, played the part of a Japanese courtesan by wearing a kimono and white makeup, which was considered yellowface.

Gary Okihiro was not amused.
