The Truman Scholarship is a prestigious award given to students who are interested in pursuing careers in government, nonprofit or advocacy sectors, education, or elsewhere in public service, and funds their graduate studies at an institution of their choice.

In 2007, Ron Towns CC'08 became the first Columbia student to win one since 2003.
