The New Student Orientation Program takes up your first week at Columbia. The committee for NSOP 2007 has been working hard on the various activities and all of the nuts and bolts that go into a successful orientation week. Some of the events that they have been working on include:
- CU: Take One - This event is similar to the BlaZe but was tweaked for this year's orientation.
- Academic Resources Fair
- A party on Ellis Island exclusively for new Columbia University students
- New York Waterway Cruise for new transfer students
- A Top of the Rock tour for international students new to the university
- Open Mic Night
- Concert in Roone Arledge Auditorium
- Lerner Party
- Under1Roof
Past events
NSOP once included an event called "CUnity," which involved rotating small social circles and theoretically meeting lots of people. After the organizers realized no one really made lasting friendships this way, it was eschewed.
