1020 is a reasonably good bar on Amsterdam Avenue at 110th St. It was once the low-key haunt of grad students and hipsters. Today, although it continues to skew a little older, 1020 is now home to a more energetic crowd.

The bar boasts a dart board and one of the neighborhood's only respectable pool tables. It also comes with friendly bartenders and a groovy decor. Random movies are projected onto a large screen in the back.

Drinks are fairly cheap and happy hours run every day from 4pm-7pm when drinks and tap beers are half price. If you're looking for a quieter scene and cigarette-centric conversation, head over later in the evening; the place is open till 4 am.

Due to harsher laws concerning underage drinking, 1020 will be undergoing a change in its ID system as of fall 2007; a machine will be installed at the door to validate IDs, making it much harder for Columbia underclassmen to get in.
