Maxine Griffith has been the head of the Government and Community Affairs since July 2005.[1] Griffith was hired be the University's primary community spokesperson and handle all Manhattanville related issues. Prior to Griffiths hiring, those responsibilities had been handled by EVP Communications and External Relations Loretta Ucelli, who had taken them on following the departure of Emily Lloyd as EVP Government and Community Affairs. In essence, Griffith was taking over a position that hadn't existed since Lloyd's departure.
Initially Griffith reported to Ucelli, but following the latter's departure, the Office of Community and External relations has split into seperate executive level offices of Government and Community Relations and Comunications and Public Affairs. Griffith now holds the title of EVP, as Lloyd did, and reports directly to President Bollinger.[2]
