West Hall was a building located roughly where Math Lawn is today. It was part of the Bloomingdale Insane Asylum's main complex. When Columbia moved to the site it made use of the building for a few years before demolishing it. It various points it housed the Anthropology Department, the University Book Store, and student group space, including the Philolexian Society, the Spectator, The Jester, and Columbia Monthly. It can be seen in early drawings and pictures of the campus.
