The School of Social Work is the oldest school of its kind in the U.S. Originally founded as the New York School of Social Work, it merged with Columbia in 1940. It currently occupies an expansive new building on Amsterdam Avenue, making a mockery of professors cramped into overcrowded IAB down the street.
