Howard W. Gutman CC '77 was appointed Ambassador to Belgium by President Barack Obama.
Previously, he was a partner at the Washington, DC law firm Williams & Connolly, an assistant to the director of the FBI, and a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart. He received his law degree from Harvard, and graduated from Columbia summa cum laude.
