Alan Brinkley is the Allan Nevins Professor of History and served for a time as the Provost of the University. Brinkley is a scholar of twentieth century American history, teaching popular survey courses covering broad periods of the 20th century. He led PrezBo's Task Force on Undergraduate Education.
He may very well have written your AP US History textbook. David Brinkley was his father.
