A distribution requirement is a means of getting students to take a certain number of elected classes within given areas. The Columbia College Core Curriculum, while stipulating that CC students take some specific classes, also contains a number of distribution requirements, such as the stipulation students take a class fulfilling the criteria for Major Cultures.
