The Office of Community Development (somewhat funnily, OCD) is the umbrella office that oversees several other sub-units of the Division of Student Affairs. It's current head is Dean Terry Martinez, who was brought on in 2009.
The name is a bit misleading, as the office isn't really an office per se. It is instead a term meant to encompass the four underlying offices that serve similar purposes:
- Office of Multicultural Affairs
- Student Development and Activities
- Office of Civic Action and Engagement
- Office of Residential Programs
In 2009, Kevin Shollenberger created the Office of Community Development and named Martinez its head in order to better coordinate these four disparate offices. Now, unified more closely under one umbrella, their programs, initiatives, and staff interact more fluidly with one another.
