The Federal Work-Study program at Columbia is administered by Student Financial Services. It is awarded by your respective school's Financial Aid office. The allocation you receive is the amount of money you can earn working in a work-study position, for which the federal government kicks in 50% of the pay, thus encouraging the university to hire you for the position at essentially half-price (from their perspective) in the first place.

The Work-Study office is located in the basement of Philosophy Hall.
