Adolph Lewisohn (1849-1937) was "a German immigrant who came to New York in 1867 initially to join the New York branch of his family’s importing business. He was a capitalist, art collector, and philanthropist, among other things, but he was mainly involved with the mining industry."[1] He funded the construction of Lewisohn Hall.
