James Rubin CC '82 SIPA '84 was assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs and chief spokesman of the State Department under Clinton. He also worked on the campaigns of Wesley Clark and John Kerry. Since neither were successful, he became a broadcaster, hosting and anchoring news programmes for PBS and Sky News.
He is married to CNN super-correspondent Christiane Amanpour. While at Columbia, he was a PoliSci major.
