The University of Oxford (alt: Oxford University or simply Oxford) is a British university. Together with the University of Cambridge it is one of the two most elite universities in the UK, collectively known as "Oxbridge".

Oxford is the destination for Rhodes Scholars and is as such considered by Americans to be the best university in Britain, if not the world. Many in Britain, if not the world, fail to share this opinion. The British university league tables alternately rank the universities either in first or second place, adding to this confusion. The latest tables seem to favor Oxford.[1][2]

As with Cambridge, Columbia has an agreement with Oxford allowing qualified students to spend their junior year studying there. It is also, along with Cambridge, a destination for Kellett Fellows.
