Percy Haughton was the coach of Columbia's football team for from 1924 until his death during the 1925 season. Haughton had previously served as Harvard's football coach from 1908-1916, and then advised his successor until Columbia hired him.

Haughton's hire by Columbia made the national press. After leading Columbia to a .500 record in his first season, Haughton got the team off to a 4-1 record in 1924 before collapsing and dying during a practice. Columbia attempted to hire legendary coach Knute Rockne to replace him, but screwed up the negotiations.
