Trinity Church was the first Anglican church in New York City and one of the city's wealthiest institutions and largest landholders to this day. Located on Broadway at the head of Wall Street, its churchyard is the burial place of many famous old New Yorkers and Columbians, including Alexander Hamilton.
Because Columbia predecessor King's College was originally conceived as an Anglican institution, it was basically a spinoff of Trinity Church, and the first classes were held in Trinity Church schoolhouse before moving to College Hall, on land provided by the church.
