Joseph "Joe" Jones was the 21st head men's basketball coach, serving until 2010. He coached the team for seven seasons. Despite being a popular presence on campus, basketball under his tenure had a mixed record, with only one winning season.

He left to become the assistant coach at Boston College, which says a lot.

He has a brother, James Jones, who is the head men's basketball coach at Yale University.
